A Norwich MP will be meeting bosses at Norwich Prison later this week.
Chloe Smith, Norwich North MP, will be visiting Norwich Prison on Friday (July 20) when she will meet members of the Norwich Prison Officers Association.
The MP will receive a tour of the prison and will also meet with the governor to discuss prison issues and hear first-hand from serving prison officers about the day-to-day issues they face.
Prison officers at the Knox Road jail have previously spoken about the “dire” conditions they have had to work in.
In November 2016 staff at the jail described being regularly spat at, having faeces thrown at them and even being attacked by inmates.
The comments were made as 60 members of staff went on protest outside Norwich Prison over health and safety concerns following cuts to the service.
