A motorist who was caught speeding at 50mph over the limit has been banned from driving.

Daniel Attew, 25, was driving his Ford Mondeo car at 80mph in a 30mph zone when he was caught by police on the Shipdham Road at Dereham.

Attew, of Robert Norgate Close, Horstead, appeared at Norwich Magistrates Court on Monday (June 18) when he admitted speeding on June 8 last year.

Ian Fisher, mitigating, said Attew was a “young man with a positive good character” and described the incident as a “one-off”.

Describing it as a “huge speed” Mary Wyndham, chair of the bench of magistrates, disqualified Attew from driving for 14 days.

He was also fined £430, ordered to pay £100 costs and a £43 victim surcharge.
