Several people raced to try and help a cyclist who died following a crash in Swannington, according to a motorist who was driving through the village just after it happened.
The cyclist, who has not been named, was killed following the crash with a grey Nissan Navara in Reepham Road at about 4pm on Thursday, June 7.
The road was closed for more than five hours whilst emergency services dealt with the incident.
A woman in her 60s, who did not want to be named, was driving home just minutes after the crash.
She described how people went to help the cyclist.
She said: 'I went down the road probably five to 10mins after it had happened.
'It was very difficult to get through, there were several people trying to help and within a very short space of time the air ambulance came.
'It was after that I heard the sirens of the ambulance or police but there were lots of people helping.
'It's terrible.'
Police are appealing for witnesses to the crash to come forward.
They particularly want to trace the driver of a small black van, who was driving along that stretch of road at the time of the collision.
Officers are also keen for any motorists with dash-cam footage of the incident to contact them.
The driver of the of the Nissan, a 55-year-old man from the Reepham area, was arrested at the scene on suspicion of causing death by dangerous driving and remains in police custody at this time.
The fatality comes just months after the death of another cyclist on Norfolk's roads.
Ian Mooney, 31, from Norwich, was killed after a crash involving a black Audi Q7 on Aylsham Road, Norwich at about 4pm on April 3 this year.
Mr Mooney was taken to Addenbrooke's Hospital with life threatening injuries, but died on April 5.
Following Mr Mooney's death his family paid tribute to a 'kind-hearted, cheeky young man'.
