A mother who allowed her son to use the family home to set up a cannabis growing operation has been ordered to pay back almost £5,000.
Norwich Crown Court has heard that Edward Newman used two bedrooms at the Feltwell Road home, in Southery, to grow 32 plants with a potential yield of between £12,360 and £16,480.
In April Newman admitted producing cannabis and illegally abstracting electricity at his home and his mother Suzanne Sahan admitted allowing premises to be used for the production of cannabis on November 3 last year.
Both were back in court on Tuesday for a Proceeds of Crime (POCA) hearing when Judge Anthony Bate ordered Sahan to pay back £4.950 or serve three months in prison while Newman was ordered to pay back £1.
In April Sahan, then 53, was given a 12 month community order with 120 hours unpaid work while Newman, then 28, was given an eight month jail term suspended for 18 months and 120 hours unpaid work.
