Ambulance among further seven vehicles targeted with bricks and stones

Police have received a further seven reports of vehicles being damaged, with motorists affected as they drove along roads including the A146, A143 and the B1062.

Almost 50 cars have been targeted or damaged since police received the first report on Friday, May 24, along roads in various towns and villages near the Suffolk-Norfolk border.

As police continue to appeal for information, officers from both counties have been carrying out a number of overnight patrols and exploring the possibility that these incidents are linked.

Details of the latest reported incidents are as follows:

- At around midday on Wednesday, May 29, a motorist was driving a BMW 520 on the A146 near Morrison's in Beccles when a stone was thrown at the windscreen, which caused it to shatter.

- On Saturday, June 8, at about 10.45pm a motorist was driving northbound on the A146 between the roundabout and the BP garage at Hales when a stone was thrown from an oncoming vehicle. It caused damage to the grill and the bumper of a Ford Focus.

- On Monday, June 3, at around 10pm a motorist was travelling on the A146 from Beccles when they heard a loud noise while driving their Skoda Superb. After reaching their destination, they realised their car had been damaged.

- Shortly before 5.30pm yesterday (Tuesday, June 11), a motorist who had been driving from Beccles to Bungay along the B1062 reported that a rock was thrown at their vehicle - a Vauxhall Astra - which caused the windscreen to smash.

- At around 7.15pm yesterday (June 11), a patient transport ambulance was driving towards Bungay from Halesworth when a large rock or stone was thrown at the ambulance from an oncoming vehicle. The incident caused no damage but made contact with the ambulance. No patients were travelling inside the ambulance at the time of the incident.

- At some point, a motorist was driving their Ford Mondeo through Beccles to Lowestoft and, after stopping briefly in the early hours at Haddiscoe Garage and setting off again, a brick was thrown at the windscreen. The windscreen smashed and the bonnet was also dented.

- At around 4.30pm yesterday (June 11), a motorist was driving along the A146/A143 from Lowestoft to Diss at around 4.10pm when they heard a loud bang after something hit the bonnet of their vehicle, an Audi S3. The vehicle sustained paintwork damage.
