Two masked burglars were forced to flee the scene of a break-in after a neighbour caught them in the act last night.

The pair fled after breaking into an outbuilding in Church Road, Wortham, at around 8.30pm on Tuesday.

The balaclava-clad burglars sped off in a silver Vauxhall Vectra with a stolen Ifor Williams trailer attached after a resident heard a noise and investigated further, according to police.

The trailer was carrying a stolen child’s motocross bike and pressure washer, and was later found abandoned near to the A143.

Plant equipment, power tools and a number of radio-controlled cars; a VW Beetle, monster truck, Army Jeep, Ford Focus and Ford Mustang, were also stolen and have not been recovered.
