A man has been jailed for four days after begging in Norwich.

Carl Horth, aged 30 and of no fixed address, was arrested in London Street, in Norwich, on Wednesday morning for persistently begging in Norwich and breaching the terms of his Anti Social Behaviour Order (ASBO).

He appeared at Norwich Magistrates’ Court on Thursday morning and was remanded into custody for four days.

Sergeant Mark Shepherd said: “Officers in Norwich are working hard to respond to complaints of persistent begging in the city. I hope the sentencing of Horth today reassures both those visiting and working in the city that we will take action and seek prosecution against those who continue to break the law.”
