A van left the road and overturned whilst being pursued by police.

The Ford Transit failed to stop for officers on Churchill Road, Wisbech, in the early hours of Saturday.

The vehicle was followed around the Emneth and Walsoken areas before it failed to negotiate a bend and ended up in a ditch on Sparrowgate Road.

Police said a 16-year-old boy from Wisbech was arrested on suspicion of taking a vehicle without the owner’s consent, but was later released with no further action.

A 19-year-old man from Oxford was arrested in connection with the incident and has been charged with driving without due care and attention, driving without a licence, driving without insurance, failing to stop when required by a constable and possessing a class B drug.

He has been bailed to appear at Peterborough magistrates on August 23. He has also been released under investigation on suspicion of theft.
