A-30-year-old Suffolk man who assaulted his brother and damaged his television has been told he might not go to prison when he is sentenced next month.
Adjourning sentence on Rikki Wisby until July 20 for a report, Judge Rupert Overbury told him: “I’m considering a sentence which might allow you to retain your freedom, but I haven’t made up my mind.”
After hearing Wisby is an alcoholic and has mental health issues he asked the probation service to look at alternatives to custody, including an alcohol treatment programme.
Wisby, of North Parade, Lowestoft, pleaded guilty at Ipswich Crown Court today on what should have been the first day of his trial for wounding his brother, Kelvin Wisby, on August 28 last year.
He also admitted damaging a 40-inch television belonging to his brother.
Judge Overbury lifted a bail condition which prevented Wisby contacting his brother.
