Man who admitted throwing lit firework into bin at Forum in Norwich surprised at how loud bang was

A man who lit a firework and threw it into a bin in The Forum in Norwich has been fined.
Police were called around 1.50pm on Wednesday (December 20) following reports of a small explosion in a bin in the car park at The Forum on causing the building to be evacuated.
It was confirmed the explosion was caused by a firework, which had been thrown in the bin.
Ben De-Vilder, 24, of Oak Tree Drive, Norwich, admitted a charge of throwing a firework in a public place when he appeared at Norwich Magistrates Court on Friday (December 22).
Simon Nicholls, mitigating, said De-Vilder found the firework in his pocket and decided to throw it away after lighting it but was surprised by how loud it was.
He also pleaded guilty to having a defective tyre and a defective exhaust.
De-Vilder, who had been in custody since Wednesday, was fined £50 for the firework offence and £50 for each of the motoring offences.
