A man accused of raping a 40-year-old woman he met on the Plenty of Fish dating website has decided not to give evidence in his trial.

Conrad Nelson, 39, is alleged to have raped the woman after meeting her through the dating website.

Norwich Crown Court heard Nelson, formerly of Raglan Street, Lowestoft, denied rape and assault by penetration on the woman, who cannot be identified for legal reasons.

Nelson claims that the sex had been consensual with the woman.

After the prosecution closed it case, Nelson's barrister Andrew Thompson told the jury: 'The defendant chose to call no evidence at this stage.'

The jury will now hear closing speeches in the trial.
