A man broke into the Norwich flat of his friend and stole £460 from his wallet, a court heard.

The victim woke in the early hours to see Graham Kilgallon, 43, crouching in the living room of his flat in Palmer Road and when he later checked his wallet he found the cash was missing from his wallet and a window broken, Norwich Crown Court heard.

Martin Ivory, prosecuting, said that Kilgallon was a “friendly acquaintance” of the victim so he had recognised him when he woke at 3am to find him in his flat and reported the matter after he found that cash had been taken.

Kilgallon, of no fixed address, admitted the burglary and was given a 12-month jail sentence suspended for 18 months and a six month drug treatment order.

Oliver Haswell, for Kilgallon, said he had returned to drugs after a long-term relationship break-up left him without support.
