A man has been arrested in connection with a stabbing after a woman died.
Officers were called to an address in Fenland Road, King's Lynn at 10.15pm on Friday, September 21 following reports a woman had been stabbed.
She was taken to the Queen Elizabeth Hospital for treatment but died.
A man in his 20s has been subsequently arrested in connection with the incident, which was on the Reffley Estate, and was taken to King's Lynn Police Investigation Centre for questioning.
Detective Inspector, Lewis Craske, said: 'We are in the early stages of our investigation and working to establish the sequence of events which led to this woman's death.
'I would be very keen to hear from anyone who may have any further information that could assist with these enquiries, whether it concerns events leading up to it or the incident itself.'
A police cordon has been put in place at Fenland Road and Tennyson Avenue whilst further enquiries are carried out. Councillor Patrick Rochford of the Gaywood North Bank ward said: 'It's a quiet community, there hasn't been that much trouble in the past.
'Our thoughts are with their families and friends. It's something that we are wanting to find out more about as it comes more into the public.
'You don't really expect to find out about this sort of crime in your area. It's a nice place to live, we don't really have that much crime.'
Councillor Mark Shorting of the same ward said: 'The only problem we have in the area is speeding.
'It's a really close, good community, not in each other's pockets, but they always say hello.
'I think it's going to be a shock to the whole community - it's a shock to me.'
Norfolk Special Constabulary will be assisting King's Lynn police tonight. A post on Twitter by NSC said: 'We will be providing additional policing resources to reassure the local community and protect the scene.'
