A 22-year-old has appeared in court charged with the murder of a man in Norwich.
Police officers were called to Rose Lane car park just after midnight on Saturday to reports a man had been stabbed.
The victim, David Hastings, 48, of Long Row, Norwich, was taken to the Norfolk and Norwich University Hospital where he died.
A post-mortem examination carried out on Sunday found Mr Hastings died as a result of multiple stab wounds.
Rolands Heinbergs, of no fixed address, was arrested in connection with the death and was later charged with murder.
Heinbergs, who was remanded in custody, appeared at Norwich Magistrates Court via videolink from Wymondham Police Investigation Centre (PIC) today.
Wearing a blue jumper, the defendant spoke only to confirm his name and details during the short hearing which lasted less than three minutes.
The case will next be heard at Norwich Crown Court tomorrow.
District Judge, Nicholas Watson, said: “If there’s to be a bail application it can be made before the judge tomorrow.”
Heinbergs was remanded in custody until the next hearing.
There was no application for bail.
A police cordon remains in place around the car park; however local roads around Rose Lane have been reopened and are accessible to traffic.
