A call to deal with a disturbance turned into an unexpected find for police - after they uncovered a man wanted on suspicion of stealing more than £200 of meat.

The man, who police joked had the “meat sweats”, was said to be hiding away after Norfolk officers were called to North Lynn during the night of Thursday, February 1 and arrested a woman accused of being drunk and disorderly.

King’s Lynn Police Tweeted that this “then led officers to locating a male who was hiding”.

They added: “Turned out he was wanted for theft of £110 worth of Gammon & £100 worth of beef!! #MeatSweats”
