A 34-year-old man from Wisbech has been charged with drink driving after an incident in Hunstanton.

He was arrested after officers attended a collision in Hunstanton on Saturday night.

Officers came across a damaged car which appeared to have been involved in a collision near the resort’s sea front on Saturday night.

Police later said: “The male was 34 years old from Wisbech.

“He has been charged with driving whilst disqualified and driving whilst over the prescribed limit.

“The car crashed in Oasis Way, Hunstanton. Officers came across the vehicle whilst on patrol with front end damage and two flat tyres which drew their attention.”

Norfolk police have launched their annual Christmas drink driving crackdown.

The month-long operation against driving under the influence of drink or drugs will see officers in both counties carrying out extra patrols and roadside checks. Any driver who is stopped due to concerns over the manner of their driving, a vehicle defect or is involved in a collision will be breathalysed.
