A bottle of juice played a part in a 'dreadfully tragic coincidence' which brought Nick Rogers together with his killer in the same Wymondham store at the same time, it can be revealed.

Mr Rogers, also known as Nick Singh, had popped into the Morrisons store in the town to pick up some water after deciding that he and his friend Leo Wardrop were to go on a run.

Unbeknown to Mr Rogers, who had been planning to go to the gym, Lee Monk, who was found guilty of Mr Rogers' manslaughter, and his girlfriend were already shopping in the same store.

Lee Monk, a self-employed builder who worked at a paintball venue, was once friends with Mr Rogers.

But a simmering feud had developed between the pair following a dispute over missing jewellery belonging to a mutual friend.

Lee Monk, who has no previous convictions, had sided with the friend against Mr Rogers with the pair having a number of altercations in the town prior to July 17.

But the countdown to the fatal encounter moved closer after Lee Monk's uncle, John Monk, also dropped into the store to pick up a bottle of fruit juice for a barbecue he was going to in Attleborough.

Det Chf Insp James said it was a 'coincidence' they were all there at the same time.

She said: 'I as a police officer don't like coincidences but it would appear that there's a situation on that day that brought all of these parties to be at Morrison's at that same time.'

Det Chf Insp James said there was 'no evidence to suggest' that any of them planned to be there together.

She said: 'Its bizarre and very much about fate - I do think it's about coincidence.

'We know John was with friends. He got picked up by some friends who stopped at Morrison's so he could pick up a couple of items for a barbecue. They were waiting outside in the car. You can see he's going in with a purpose and is going towards the aisle where the items are that he needs.'

As John Monk goes down the aisle, near to the florist stand, he 'catches' sight of Mr Rogers and his nephew while they are arguing and goes over.

Det Chf Insp James said: 'I think Lee gets a bit brave when he sees his uncle. He knows he's got a bit of back up.'
