A woman from Norwich has recalled the moment when 15 police cars gathered outside her home after reports of a man wielding a gun.
It comes following the huge police presence in Lakenham on Thursday night.
Armed police were called to the Queens Road area at around 9.30pm to reports that a woman had been threatened with what she thought was a firearm.
By around 10pm a vehicle had been located in the Long John Hill area, where a toy gun was found.
Three people were spoken to. They were not arrested.
The police helicopter assisted and witnesses have said they also saw firearms officers with guns and at least two police dogs.
Kathi Ritchie, 44, of Long John Hill, watched the events unfold from her living room.
She said: “I was sitting here having a glass of wine after a long day at work when suddenly I heard a voice shout ‘freeze freeze freeze’ and then the police just swarmed the area.
“They had guns pointing at a car, with spray cans and dogs. I wondered what had gone on.”
Mrs Ritchie recalls seeing up to 15 police vehicles in attendance.
“I was a bit scared,” she said. “By about 11pm though it sort of frittered away.”
Another resident of Long John Hill, who did not want to be named, said she had also felt scared.
“I have no idea what went on though and to be honest it was all a bit scary.”
Shop owners were also left baffled by the incident. One worker, who also did not want to be named, said: “We’ve heard bits and bobs from people coming into the shop. But no one really seems to know what went on.”
One witness said on Facebook: “It was scary stuff, armed response, dogs. Over ten police cars between Long John Hill and Netherwood Green.”
