A man has been arrested on suspicion of assault following an incident in Stalham.

It's after police received reports of a man exiting a moving car on the A149 at 8am on Tuesday, September 12.

Officers said that a red BMW 1 series was travelling in the direction of North Walsham from Great Yarmouth, when a man was seen to leave the moving vehicle, from the passenger side. The driver of the BMW failed to stop at the scene.

The victim fell on the road near to Richardson's Boatyards and rolled towards the edge of the carriageway.

Members of the public came to his aid until the East of England Ambulance Service arrived. He was then taken to Addenbrooke's Hospital in Cambridge with serious injuries and remains there in a stable condition.

The suspect, who is his 20s and from the Great Yarmouth area, has been taken to the town's police investigation centre for questioning.

He was arrested in Yarmouth last night. Officers are keen to trace two men who stopped at the scene to help with the man's injuries.

Anyone with information should contact Great Yarmouth CID on 101.
