A woman in her 80s watched on helplessly as her two Chihuahua-type dogs were savaged to death.

Two people have been arrested in connection with the dog attack in King's Lynn yesterday afternoon.

It happened shortly after 12pm, when the woman was walking her dogs in Hospital Walk.

Four Staffordshire Bull Terrier type dogs, which were off their lead, attacked the victim's dogs and bit the victim.

Both dogs died as a result of the injuries they sustained in the incident.

A man and woman, both in their 40s, were arrested in connection with the incident and were taken to King's Lynn police investigation centre for questioning. Both were subsequently bailed until January 15 pending further enquiries.

Whilst the investigation continues, the four dogs have been securely boarded at kennels.

Officers are keen to speak to witnesses or anyone who may have information regarding the incident. They should contact Sergeant Trevor Smith at King's Lynn police station on 101 or call Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.
