A man who was found with suspected knife wounds in Drayton yesterday had inflicted them on himself.

Police were called to reports that a man had been wounded by a blade on Marriott’s Way, near the junction of Taverham Road and Station Road at 4.40pm on Monday.

A 23-year-old man was treated at the scene for his injuries, which were not serious, but today police said no crime had taken place.

A spokesman said: “Investigations have revealed the man was not a victim of assault and that the injuries were self-inflicted.”

The 23-year-old is helping police with their enquiries.

A man in his 40s was initially arrested on suspicion of grievous bodily harm with intent.

No further action will be taken against him.
