A man who persistently harassed a woman with letters, texts, phone calls and visits to her workplace has been jailed.

David Page, 54, who is also known as William Hand, was convicted of harassment offences at Norwich Magistrates Court on Tuesday October 23, 2018.

The court heard that Page, of Hindolveston Road, Foulsham, near Reepham, constantly hassled the woman over 12 months by sending letters, texts and making phone calls while also turning up at her place of work.

During this time Page befriended a neighbour of the victim in north Norfolk which allowed him to monitor her behaviour.

The court also found Page in breach of a suspended sentence order imposed for animal cruelty offences, after it was established the neighbour owned a horse.

Page pleaded guilty to a charge of participating in the keeping of a bay pony between May 21 and August 9, 2017. This breached the lifetime Disqualification Order imposed upon him previously by Norwich Magistrates Court.

In December 2016 he pleaded guilty to eight counts of causing unnecessary suffering to horses at Rainbow Meadows Horse Sanctuary in Foulsham and was sentenced to 15 weeks imprisonment, suspended for 12 months.

The lifetime Disqualification Order prevents Page from keeping horses or cloven hoofed animals and because, this was breached, he was granted a further lifetime Disqualification Order in respect of all animals with the exception of dogs.

This prevents him from owning, keeping, participating in the keeping or being a party to an arrangement where he may participate in the keeping of animals. It also prevents him from dealing, transporting or arranging to transport animals.

Magistrates sentenced Page to a total of 17 weeks in prison, given a restraining order, given exclusion orders banning him from the victim's home and place of work and a 12-month supervision order.
