Inquest opens into death of Norwich car park murder victim

An inquest has opened into the death of a man murdered in a Norwich car park.
David Charles Hastings, of Long Row, Norwich, died after being stabbed in the chest, neck and abdomen at Rose Lane car park, Norfolk Coroners’ Court heard.
The beloved son, father and grandfather was unemployed and sleeping rough when he was assaulted at the inner-city car park just after midnight on Saturday, June 23.
Volunteers with the city’s SOS Bus battled to save his life after he was assaulted.
Hasting’s mother, Shula Hastings confirmed the death of her son after forensic identification was provided.
Rolands Heinbergs, 22, of no fixed address, appeared at Norwich Crown Court this week after being charged with the murder of the 48-year-old.
A pre-inquest review will be on Thursday, September 27 at Norfolk Coroners’ Court.
