Police stopped the driver of a pickup truck that was travelling on the A47 with its load hanging out of its bed.

A picture tweeted by Norfolk and Suffolk Roads and Armed Policing Team show the vehicle pulled over after it was seen with planks of wood 'flapping around in the wind' on the Acle Straight.

Officers urged drivers to use the correct vehicle for carrying large loads.

A police spokesman said: 'This was a vehicle seen with the load, wood planks, flapping around in the wind, as well as concerns over the amount of overhang, as it came down the A47 Acle straight to Acle.

'It was stopped by a motorcyclist from the Road Casualty Reduction Team and the driver, a male in his 40s, was reported and issued a Traffic Offence Report at the roadside, with the vehicle load being secured by company staff and loaded more appropriately.'
