Outrage over unsafe road conditions and speeding trends has risen for many around the region.

And Dean Bailey and Susie Rowles have spoken out about their concerns over unsafe drivers and increasing numbers of road casualties in Norfolk.

Mr Bailey said: 'Nobody sticks to speed limits, and there have been so many government cuts that there are not enough police officers or traffic cops to enforce it.

'Speeding is not just a local issue, it's more widespread than that. There aren't enough campaigns about safe driving, and there is really a terrible speeding problem. If it's not fixed, someone is going to get killed.'

Mr Bailey wrote a letter to police and crime commissioner Lorne Greene, saying: 'I am going out of my way to get something put together to highlight these issues yet nobody is willing to jump on board and help.

'It is not just about Lenwade, it's nationwide. We do get extra camera van visits due to my speaking to the Reepham safety team. People are dying needlessly and nothing is being done. I would like Norfolk Constabulary to jump on board with Lenwade parish council. They, along with myself, are setting up a Facebook site to highlight these issues.'

Mr Bailey and Ms Rowles also met police to discuss the issue more fully.

Sgt Nathan Hodgson, of Norfolk Constabulary, apologised for a delay in replying, saying: 'Countywide there is a dedicated Roads Policing Unit (RPU) and has been for many years albeit under different monikers and with different roles and responsibilities. They are a dedicated team of officers who patrol the roads and areas identified as requiring the attention.

'Within Norfolk I am pleased to say that the figures evidence that the trend over the last 10 years, 2005 to 2015, is that the number all collisions within Norfolk has fallen.

'I was pleased to receive the update from the meeting held yesterday with PC Benson, PCSO Bridges, yourself and the chairman of the Parish Council Susie Rowles.'

PC Julie Benson added: 'I have had confirmation from the specials sergeant that he is able to accommodate speed checks in your village as we previously discussed at our meeting.'
