A Suffolk man who was arrested after he was seen looking at images of children on a computer at a Suffolk library has been given a community order.
Concerned members of the public informed staff at Lowestoft library who contacted the police and officers seized a USB stick he had been using, Ipswich Crown Court heard.
When the stick was examined it was found to contain three indecent images of children in the lowest level C category.
During police interviews Michael Catchpole said a friend had asked him to obtain stories about sexual abuse of children and pictures of children for him and he had gone to the library.
Michael Crimp, prosecuting, said the three pictures found on the USB stick were of children having a bath.
Catchpole, 43, of Cleveland Road, Lowestoft, admitted downloading and possessing indecent images of children in January.
He was given a two year community order and a 40 day rehabilitation activity requirement.
He is already subject to a five year sexual harm prevention order which was imposed in November 2016. He was also ordered to pay an £85 victim surcharge.
Andrew Thompson for Catchpole said his client had been in custody since January 8.
