A cleaner who sent a letter warning Norwich City Football Club that there would be a bomb at a match has been handed a 12-month community order.

Stephen Peachey, 45, was sentenced today (Wednesday, May 24) at Norwich Magistrates' Court after admitting the bomb threat.

Peachey, of Well Green, Frettenham, was also ordered to attend 12 rehabilitation days and pay £85 in court costs and another £85 victim surcharge.

The letter, which stated 'there would be a bomb at a forthcoming match' was sent on May 5, 2015.

But it was not until October 2016 that Peachey's fingerprints were taken in relation to another matter that police were able to link him to the letter.

At a hearing in April, Peachey admitted an offence of sending a letter/communication/article to Norwich City conveying a threatening message.

The court heard that Peachey had 'learning difficulties' but had worked as a cleaner for a number of years.

Sarah Cator, chair of the bench, said: 'The offence is serious enough for you to have a community order.'
