Residents have raised concerns after thieves were caught on CCTV trying to break into mutiple vehicles across the Lowestoft area.
Footage captured in Gunton, Oulton Broad and Lowestoft shows men wearing hooded tops moving from house to house and attempting to get inside cars parked outside.
In one video, a resident - who had been watching an individual pacing alongside his house - shouts at the man, who then runs away.
Numerous incidents were between April 27 and 30, with some offenders successfully gaining entry to vehicles but not stealing anything from within.
Much of the footage has been captured by Ring doorbells, an increasingly popular security system which alerts homeowners when movement is detected.
James Newman, whose footage shows two men outside his house on Sands Lane in Oulton Broad, believes modern technology has underlined a long-term issue.
'This is something that's always happened, but the introduction of technology has really shone a light on it,' said Mr Newman. 'Seeing footage of someone trying to get into your car does make you feel a bit sick.
'There's not much you can say to deter these people because they've probably been doing it for years and we have only just become aware.
'People might mention street lights but, even if they were on, I don't think it would make much difference. There was a floodlight from my house illuminating the guy's face and he didn't even care.'
Another resident affected by the spate of attempted break-ins was Louise Cox, who lives on the Parkhill estate in north Lowestoft.
'When my husband installed one of these doorbells, I wasn't sure whether I wanted to know about anyone lingering outside my home,' said Mrs Cox, 47.
'My neighbour shared footage of someone trying to get into cars, so I thought 'I'll have a quick look at mine' and I couldn't believe what I was seeing! What's shocking is that it was only 11.50pm at night - that's not even particularly late.
'It hasn't unnerved me but it has angered me. Why they feel they need to take things belonging to others is beyond me.'
Danny Daniels, who lives on Bishops Walk in Gunton and shared his footage on social media, added: 'Street lighting in this area is one of my major concerns. If it weren't for these cameras we'd have no idea these people were there.
'By sharing these videos hopefully we can spread a bit of awareness.'
Police warning
Police say they have increased patrols in the area as a result of the sudden spate of attempted break-ins.
Enquiries are ongoing in relation to a number of reported incidents, including thieves successfully gaining entry to cars on Hall Lane in Oulton Broad and Spashett Road in Lowestoft.
Vehicles on Willowvale and Grampian Way Lowestoft have also been tampered with, although it is not yet known whether any of the incidents are linked.
A Suffolk Constabulary spokesman said: 'Police are investigating a number of incidents involving cars in Lowestoft and the surrounding area.
'We would like to reassure residents that we have stepped up patrols in the area and will continue to have a presence in the community.
'However, we would encourage motorists to ensure they do not leave valuables in their vehicles, especially on display for opportunist thieves.'
