The owners of a greyhound that 'brutally attacked' a cat on the Blickling Hall Estate have been in touch with the police, after the cat-owners issued an appeal.

Jonathan and Catherine Moore are National Trust tenants on the estate and they appealed last week to find the dog-owners responsible after their cat, Basil was attacked.

Mr Moore said: "We have now had the situation resolved with the relevant individuals coming forward to the police and they have kindly agreed to settle our vet fees. Basil is slowly recovering."

Mrs Moore, 37, said that Basil, nine, was traumatised after the attack and they were not sure whether he would pull through.

She added: "He had multiple internal dissolvable stitches and at least six external ones.

"We were also traumatised."

The couple are preparing for their first child this month and were at home when it happened.

Mrs Moore added: "Around 3pm on Monday, February 24 a black greyhound, off a lead, jumped our private garden fence and brutally attacked our cat Basil.

"Jonathan immediately ran out to confront the dog who then ran off and he shouted at the owners to say what had happened.

"We had to rush Basil to the vet and we left one of the ranger team on site to go and find the owners... To give them our details so they could contact us."
