'We cannot confirm the number or types of firearms that have been seized until this process is complete.

'We would like to thank local residents for their patience whilst these searches are taking place and I would like to reassure the public that they are not at any risk.'

A man in his 60s from the Brundall area has been arrested in connection with firearms offences. He has since been released on police bail pending further enquiries until Wednesday 20 July 2016.

Tents have been put up at the back and front of the bungalow on Holmesdale Road, where the firearms, found in the home, are being moved to.

There are two white tents and a blue gazebo in the rear garden. The tents at the back were erected yesterday morning and the one at the front of the bungalow was put up this morning.

Officers first went to the bungalow in Holmesdale Road on Monday where they found the firearms.

Neighbours said a police car arrived at the house on Monday morning. They added that within hours police cars, forensic teams and vans appeared and the area was taped off.

Searches took place yesterday and are due to continue today.

Police confirmed on Wednesday morning that they had found firearms after neighbours told this newspaper they were being kept in the dark about what was going on.

One neighbour said: 'I have seen lots of flat pack boxes being taken into the house and there are so many people going in and out - it must be something fairly big but they won't tell us anything.'

Another neighbour was frustrated by the lack of information.

They said: 'We have a right to know what's going on right on our doorstep. I can't believe it is all happening here.'

A cordon has been placed around the home and the road is expected to be closed whilst those searches take place.

A police spokesperson said: 'We would like to thank local residents for their patience whilst these searches continue and we would like to reassure the public that they are not at any risk.'
