The Broads Beat policing team are in their 23rd year of patrolling our waters.

In this video PC Paul Bassham explains how the Broads Beat cover around 125 miles of waterways and 63 broads.

Based at Hoverton police station, the force can be contacted to help in a range of incidents including missing people, potential drowning, searches, firearms deployments, anti-social behaviour and crimes.

An estimated 8 million visitors make use of the broads in peak summer season so PC Bassham and the other members of the Broads Beat team are certainly kept busy.

'We deal with anything marine related, this can be outboard engine thefts, fuel thefts which are quite common with diesel, but we also get people with domestic issues, and people who die on boats sadly,' he said.

'We are police officers in uniform but instead of a police car we've got a boat.'
