STEPHEN PULLINGER

Firefighters had to cut two crash victims from their cars after a four vehicle-pile up left one carriageway of the Caister bypass closed for several hours this morning.

Emergency services were called to the scene at about 7.40am and found a Range Rover, Mazda, Ford Fiesta and Vauxhall Nova blocking the road.

One of the trapped drivers was placed on a spinal board because of initial fears he had been badly hurt. The other is thought to have only minor injuries.

They were both taken to James Paget Hospital, Gorleston, by ambulance.

Police had to close the Ormesby-bound carriageway from the Yarmouth stadium roundabout, diverting traffic through the village.
