Crash victim named as missing man

Police have this morning named the man whose body was pulled from the Ramsey Forty Foot drain as 43-year-old Paul Atkinson, from Ely.

Police have this morning named the man whose body was pulled from the Ramsey Forty Foot drain as 43-year-old Paul Atkinson, from Ely.

Mr Atkinson had been missing since December 13, when he was last seen leaving his place of work in Cambridge.

Police suspected he may have been driving his Silver Renault Laguna when he disappeared.

On Boxing Day a specialist underwater rescue team was dispatched to the notorious accident blackspot after reports of a car in the water.

A Renault was recovered from the drain containing the body of Mr Atkinson. An investigation is being carried out into the circumstances of his death.
