A bomb disposal unit has been despatched to Holme to investigate an unexploded device on the beach.
The Coastguard were alerted to an old ordnance found on the beach between Holme and Thornham yesterday which had been uncovered by the recent stormy weather.
A coastguard spokesman said an explosive ordnance disposal (EOD) team, from RAF Wittering, were sent to Holme today to safely dispose of the device in a controlled detonation.
He added that while the device appears to be old ordnance it may have an explosive device within it and so it is treated as an explosive.
The items included a Second World War 25lb projectile as well as flares and shells. They were all demolished on site at around 3.30pm.
A spokesman from RAF Wittering advised members of the public who find any suspicious items to not touch or attempt to move them and to call police straight away.
