Computer and IT problems hit Great Yarmouth Borough Coucil's systems this morning, with people asked to not to call the council or visit its receptions.

The council posted about the problems on its Facebook page at about 10.40am.

The post said: 'The council is currently experiencing an IT issue which is affecting our systems, including phone calls and emails. Everything is being done to ensure that this is resolved as soon as possible. In the meantime, people are asked not to try to call or visit the receptions. Another update will be posted in due course.'

The council has since updated the situation, with the contact centre now operational. However, the problems with the service systems still apply.

The update said: 'The customer contact centre is again operarational for phone calls, but please be patient and aware that staff access to our service systems is still affected. Work is taking place to resolve this IT issue as soon as possible.'
