A Norwich audiologist has become one of the first in the country to become a 'dementia friend' as part of Amplifon's nationwide training pledge.

Luke Baker, who works with Amplifon's regional team, was among staff who were given specialist dementia training.

The training is designed to strengthen the staff's customer experience skills when visiting the homes of customers with memory loss.

Mr Baker said: 'It's been interesting because before the session I didn't understand the different types of dementia.

'I feel more confident that I can help spot the early signs of dementia and offer a high level of support during appointments.'

Amplifon plans to roll out the dementia friend training to staff in all 134 of its branches across the UK and Ireland. The company will also train 'dementia champions'.
