The Cross Keys Pub in Redgrave officially becomes the community’s pub after they receive the keys

After seven busy months of planning and fundraising to save their village pub a community has finally received the keys.

The Cross Keys pub in Redgrave, near Diss, was originally offered to the community by vendor for £300,000 in April.

Villagers’ rallied to buy shares, donate money and hold fundraising events.

At the end of October residents celebrated taking ownership of pub subject to legal matters.

And on November 24 Redgrave Community Society Limited were given the keys.

Fiona Kenworthy, who is a committee member, said: “The pub will remain closed for refurbishment, but the new owners now look forward to proudly opening the doors again in the new year as a free house, with a new look, and owned and run by the community.”
