A community fete raised thousands of pounds for a village school.

The May Fair fundraiser organised by the Friends of Little Melton Primary School made £4,905, an increase on last year's event which raised £4,397.

Most of the money raised will go towards enhancing the children's learning experience at the primary school as well as providing the pupils with an outdoor table tennis table, new library and whiteboard.

Some 5pc of the funds raised will go towards Nelson's Journey, which supports children and young people across Norfolk who are suffering a bereavement of a loved one.

The annual fair was held on the school grounds and entertainment included Darth Vader and Storm Troopers from the East Anglian Star Wars Society as well as a reptile display and talent show.

Local businesses, residents and parents provided raffle prizes and ran stalls.
