A clifftop ceremony will be held to commemorate the 100th anniversary of the ending of the Great War.

The community event, marking the centenary of the end of the First World War, will be held in Pakefield on Sunday, November 11.

The Beacon on Pakefield cliffs will be lit for Armistice Day at 7pm on November 11, with the community joining in the national commemoration.

A spokesman said: 'A special evening service will be held at 6.30pm in Pakefield Church to commemorate this event, after which the congregation will move outside and onto the clifftop where the beacon pole has been decorated with fitting images by the church youth group.

'There the Rev Sharon Lord will say a prayer of dedication as the beacon on Pakefield Cliff is lit at 7pm and the Church bells are rung at 7.05pm.'

This will be followed by the singing of First World War songs interspersed with readings and poems reflecting the occasion.

The names of those commemorated on the nearby war memorial will also be read out.
