A grade II listed church has successfully raised £87,500 to restore its roof.

A grant of £55,400 was awarded to St. Andrew's Church Colton by the National Heritage Lottery Fund in June 2016, but the church had to raise around £30,000 more for the work needed. This includes work on Welsh slate, flint and parapets, which requires a specialist architect.

Members of St. Andrew's Church PCC embarked on a further campaign to secure additional funding to allow the work to go ahead, by securing further grants of £5,000 each from the National Churches Trust, the Norfolk Churches Trust and the Garfield Weston Foundation. Additional smaller grants up to £2,500 have been awarded by The Bishop of Norwich Fabric Fund, All Churches Trust, Pennycress Trust and The Geoffrey Watling Charity. The project is now fully funded with work starting later this month, and is expected to be completed by the end of May 2018.
