A Norfolk-born public relations consultant, who only set up her own business three weeks ago, found herself at the centre of the Royal Wedding fashion scene.

Louise Thomas, whose parents Paul and Mary live in Coltishall, told the world's media about who had made the uniform Prince William wore to the altar.

She was recommended to tailors Kashket and Partners by a former fashion designer client. The firm founded in East London in 1655 has made uniforms stretching back into history including for Lord Nelson and both arms in the Battle of Gettysburg, as well as clothes for modern celebrities such as Victoria Beckham and Mark Owen through to royal families around the globe.

Louise, who started her company, Louise Thomas Public Relations (LTPR) in London in April after four years working in fashion and lifestyle PR for an international PR firm, said: 'The need for discretion prevented us from telling our story before the wedding day. The news broke formally at 0001 hours Friday and I had just two hours sleep, among dealing with inquiries from media worldwide.'

During the wedding day she won her client, Kashket chairman and personal tailor Russell Kashket, interviews with world media – including Piers Morgan for the US global channel CNN live in front of Buckingham Palace. She also brought in BBC TV, ITV, Sky and Al Jazeera,.the middle east news channel, to meet him.

'The media were concentrating on Kate's dress, obviously, and taking it for granted William's would come from a Saville Row tailor. That was not, in the event, the case, perhaps illustrating the couple's modern and changing attitude' said Louise, who also confirmed her client had made Prince William's suit for the wedding reception.
