Everyone's a winner - that is the message going out to schools and thousands of pupils and parents as we gear up again for the our incredible Get Equipped giveaway.

Once again the EDP has teamed up with The Mall Norwich, formerly known as the Castle Mall, to hand out £25,000 in cash for schools to spend on sports equipment.

Five winning schools will each receive £3000, but every single one of the rest of the entrants will share in the remainder of the jackpot.

All schools have to do to enter is collect 2,000 of the special vouchers printed in the EDP from now until September 23 and then say in 250 words or less why they deserve to win. The first is on the facing page.

The competition, which is being sponsored for the second consecutive year by The Mall Norwich and ran for another three years before then, involves whole school communities pulling together to collect those vital tokens.

Everyone from teachers and children to parents, grandparents and family friends are being urged to get their collecting hats on and make sure their local schools are with the chance of a prize.

As well as the five winning schools last year 95 others received more than £105 each just for entering.

Simon Tomlinson, marketing manager for the EDP, said: “Schools are at the heart of their communities, and this is where the Eastern Daily Press has its roots.

“We are committed to supporting local schools and Get Equipped offers a fantastic opportunity for children to benefit from this extra funding with new sports equipment, helping them to enjoy sport and stay active.

“We are absolutely delighted that The Mall Norwich has committed to be our partner again this year. Their generous support means that hundreds of children will once again benefit from this fantastic promotion.”

Sophie Hallett, marketing manager for The Mall Norwich, said: “Get Equipped delivers real benefits to children in communities across Norfolk and Suffolk and we are delighted to partner the EDP for a second year.”

One of last year's winners, Alderman Peel High in Wells, hope its £3,000 will help it achieve specialist sports status after using it to buy equipment for its students to use with younger pupils from its feeder primary schools.

Flegg High School, near Yarmouth, bought new PE strips and Hapton Primary school, near Wymondham, said the money would make an enormous difference.

Knowland Grove First in Norwich wanted to use the money to transform its playground and Burnham Market Primary School launched a children's Olympic club.
