A cat which had got stuck up a fir tree on Back Lane, Buxton, near Aylsham, was rescued by firefighters today, shortly before 1pm.
The two-year-old cat's owner contacted the RSPCA after her pet had spent about 24 hours in the tree unable to get down, according to a spokesman for the charity.
'It was physically OK but the owner was worried because the weather was so cold so we contacted fire and rescue as we always do in these circumstances because they have all the right equipment and skills,' said the spokesman.
A crew from Aylsham used ladders and a harness to bring the cat to safety from about 20ft up the 30ft tree.
A spokesman for the fire service said they had only attended the incident because they had been asked to do so by the RSPCA.
