A crewman has been evacuated from a vessel 20 miles off the coast of Great Yarmouth after sustaining a serious leg injury.

HM Coastguard evacuated the crewman from the vessel by helicopter on Wednesday, October 31.

They were then taken to the James Paget Hospital.

A post on HM Coastguard Gorleston’s Facebook page said: “Today, team called to man the [helicopter landing site] at the JPUH helipad to cover the [casualty evacuation] of an injured crewman from a vessel some 20 NM from Great Yarmouth.

“R163 was tasked to evacuate a crewman who had sustained serious lower leg injuries. Also called to attend were the hospital’s Security Staff and the East of England Ambulance Service NHS Trust ambulance.”
