Southwold has been awarded the designation of a Coastal Community Team (CCT) and a grant to develop an economic plan to meet challenges facing the local economy.

The seaside resort joins a group of CCTs across the country following an application submitted by Waveney District Council and Southwold Town Council.

The purpose of a CCT is to bring together businesses and community representatives to coordinate projects to develop a plan which will improve the town's economy.

The status of a CCT includes a sum of £10,000, from the Department for Communities and Local Government, to develop an economic plan to look at the needs of the local economy and challenges facing the town.

Partners helping to drive the project include Southwold Town Council, Reydon Parish Council, Southwold and Reydon Society, Southwold Chamber of Trade, Waveney District Council, Adnams brewery, Southwold Pier, Southwold Boating Lake and many employers in the town.
