A Norwich teacher proved a class act after striking gold at the World Baton Twirling Federation's International Cup competition in Croatia.

Lauren Stearman, 24, from Sprowston, was awarded the International prize for Artistic Twirling in her last competitive performance at the competition in Porec.

She competed against gymnasts from 19 other nations, including majorettes from Japan and America.

The Angel Baton Twirlers member previously won national titles in the UK, becoming British Open Champion earlier this year.

And she collected a silver medal in Artistic Twirl in Canada in 2015.

Trainers Sarah Cullum and Claire White said they couldn't have been prouder of all their performances on the international stage and with 'most categories having over 45 athletes competing, to reach the finals or semi-finals is a massive achievement.'
