City of Norwich School has appointed Jo Philpott as its new headteacher from September of this year.

Ms Philpott, who is currently Head of School at CNS, will be picking up the role from Jim Nixon, who will be stepping down as headteacher in August after 40 years in education.

Paul Fisher, Chair of Governors at City of Norwich School said: 'We are delighted that Jo Philpott will be the new Headteacher from September. The final panel was unanimous that Jo was the right appointment to lead City of Norwich School.'

Ms Philpott added: 'I feel deeply privileged to have the honour of being the new headteacher at CNS and I'm looking forward to working closely with staff, students, parents and the whole school community.'

Nicole McCartney, managing director at Ormiston Academies Trust, said it was a 'fantastic appointment.'
