A 23-year-old Norwich man denied murdering 18-year-old John Sewell when he appeared at Norwich Crown Court today.

A 23-year-old Norwich man denied murdering 18-year-old John Sewell when he appeared at Norwich Crown Court today.

Daniel Horner of Watling Road, Norwich, pleaded not guilty to murdering Mr Sewell between October 26 and 29 last year. He also denied violent disorder on the same date.

His case was adjourned and he was remanded in custody. His trial is expected to take place in April.

Mr Sewell a former pupil of Heartsease High suffered a puncture wound to his body after being attacked in Watling Road in Norwich.

He was pronounced dead after being taken to the Norfolk and Norwich Hospital.

Mr Sewell was a well-known local footballer and played for five teams Old Catton, Lakeford, the Canary pub team and the Witard Road Church Team.
