Five Norwich cookery students have raised more than £1,200 for the Teenage Cancer Trust.

Ashleigh Reeve, James Barnes, Megan Bunn, Ruby-Mae Elsden and Shaun Palmer volunteered their skills to put on a quiz and chips night in City College Norwich's (CCN) Debut restaurant.

It saw the eatery filled for the event, which took place on Friday, with 76 guests enjoying food, a quiz, auction and raffle.

James, 17 and from Fakenham, said: 'The night went really well. Everyone seemed as though they were enjoying themselves and we all enjoyed doing it.'

They were assisted by CCN staff Sue Kesseck, Cindy McCann and Jennifer Lloyd, while Dereham-based Accurate Data Services paid for all the ingredients.

Mrs Kesseck, course leader, said: 'They were amazing. Seventy-six is a lot of people to cater for. I can't thank the students enough, they did a brilliant job.

'It is wonderful to see young people raising money for their peers.'
