A weekend of celebrations will be held to mark the 50th anniversary of a Fenland church - but former congregation members are needed to help make the event a success.

Organisers have been busy planning for the 50th anniversary of the Upwell Methodist Church, which will be held from September 22 to 24.

However, organisers are keen to hear from anyone who was married or christened at the church and who has photographs which can be displayed for a special exhibition.

The exhibition will include archive film and photographs and there will also be a reunion of friends of the church from the past and present.

As well as the exhibition, there will be a flower festival, stalls, lunches and a special service of celebration.

Local celebrity Keith Skipper and friends will be presenting a special show called All Preachers Great and Small at 7.30pm on Saturday, September 23.

Organiser Jane Hurst, said: "A special booklet has been produced and commemorative mugs, jugs, and dishes are being made to mark the special occasion; these will be on sale throughout the weekend."

Anyone who has any pictures which they can loan to the church for the exhibition is asked to put their name and address on the back and send them to Graham Mallett, Rheims House, Lotts Bridge, Three Holes, Wisbech, Cambs.

Anyone who can donate a picture will be invited to a buffet tea, which will be held after the exhibition.
